U.S. Solar Capacity Expands by 69%, Led by Commercial Projects

Driven laregely by commercial and government projects,  314.3 MW of photovoltaic power was installed in the second quarter of 2011, compared with 186.5 MW for the same period in 2010. This according to the U.S. Solar Market Insight report published by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and GTM Research. The U.S. is expected to install 1,750 MW of photovoltaic panels in 2011, double last year’s total and enough energy for 350,000 homes.
